Introduction and Objective: The aim of the present study is to investigate the extent to which the content of the curriculum of the anesthesia department internship and training course is compatible with the job needs of general practitioners from the perspective of general practitioners.
Methods: This is a descriptive-analytical study and 85 general practitioners from Birjand city were selected in 1402 using convenience sampling. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire with 15 questions. The research data were analyzed using SPSS version 21 and statistical tests of one-sample t-test, independent t-test, analysis of variance and Pearson correlation.
Findings: 26 (30.7%) of the studied physicians were male and 59 (69.3%) were female. Based on the results obtained, it was found that most of the curriculum contents of the anesthesia department were effective in increasing the knowledge and skills of general practitioners from the perspective of general practitioners, and the average score of all the topics of the anesthesia department except the topic (recovery discharge criteria) was higher than the average of 1.5. However, the score of the topic (recovery discharge criteria) was lower than the average of 1.5.
Conclusion: The results showed that the content of the curricula of the field under study is at an average and acceptable level in terms of scientific awareness and theoretical knowledge, as well as applied knowledge in the field of determined needs.
