Abstract
Objectives: The present study was conducted to design a national model for continuing education in medical universities during the crisis, considering the experiences of the coronavirus pandemic.
Materials and Methods: This research is applied in terms of its purpose and was conducted using a quantitative method in two stages. In the first part of the study, a quantitative descriptive correlation method is used to identify the relationships between phenomena, and the presented model is developed using the structural equation model method. The second part of the study is descriptive survey-type research. The statistical population in the quantitative part of the study is all professors, staff, and managers of professional skills and continuing education centers in the country's medical universities (71 centers), of which 300 people participated in the study using a simple random method based on the Tabachnik and Fidel (2007) formula. In the second part of the study, the statistical population included all managers and staff of continuing education centers in Khuzestan province (Ahvaz, Abadan, Dezful, Shushtar, Behbahan), totaling 120 people, who participated in the study using a census method.
Findings: The research results categorized and validated the national model of continuing medical education during a crisis in four elements: goal, content, teaching and learning strategies, and evaluation. The results of the situation assessment illustrated that the current system of continuing medical education in Khuzestan universities is below the desired state for implementing the designed model.
