Purpose: Ambidexterity in the educational organizations was a strategy that with the same facilities, provides the ability to absorb and transfer knowledge to develop new capabilities. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identifying the effective indicators, components and dimensions related to ambidextrous innovation in the educational organizations.
Method: This study in terms of purpose was applied and in terms of implementation method was qualitative. The statistical population of the present research was the professors and administrators of Universities of Mazandaran province in the 2022-2023 academic years, and number of 14 people of them were selected as a sample according to the principle of theoretical saturation with the purposive sampling method. The research tool was a semi-structured interview, which its validity was confirmed by the opinion of experts and its reliability was calculated with the agreement coefficient between two coders 0.88. Data were analyzed by open, axial and selective coding method in MAXQDA software.
Findings: The findings showed that the effective factors related to ambidextrous innovation in the educational organizations had 46 indicators in 7 components and 2 dimensions. The effective dimensions and components were included exploratory innovation (with 4 components of structure, planning, development thinking and university culture) and applied innovation (with 3 components of capabilities, university vision and university strategy). Finally, the ambidextrous innovation function pattern in the educational organizations was drawn.
Conclusion: The results of this study about the ambidextrous innovation function in the educational organizations can help specialists and planners of educational organizations to promote ambidextrous innovation through improving the status of the identified dimensions and components.
