Introduction: The present study aimed to design the curriculum of social determinants of health (SDH) for the basic and clinical sciences students of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences.
Method: In this cross-sectional study based on the community, the educational curriculum was designed in six phases. First, new chapters with social determinants of health were prepared separately to the faculty and educational groups then it was sent to the vice president of education and group’s managers for review. In the last phase, a survey was conducted to evaluate the group members and the vice-chancellor comments.
Findings: The curriculum of SDH was classified and presented based on the section and title of each course and according to the faculty members of the basic and clinical science groups. Also, the relation between the topics of SDH with different aspects of health, including mental health of the family and society, health during pregnancy, food security, childhood growth and development, housing and diseases, social support and health, smoking and drug abuse, communicable and non-communicable disease management based on the main and secondary objects and the plan of the lessons were presented.
Conclusion: According to the results; the presentation of new curriculum of social determinants of health by the professors showed the promotion level of students’ participation, and the group’s managers agreed with continuing this educational course in clinical sciences.
