Abstract
Introduction: Given the increasing importance of service quality in higher education, this study aimed to evaluate the quality of educational, research, and student services as perceived by medical students and faculty members in Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences in 2022 and 2023.
Material and Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was conducted on 241 medical students in internship course and 171 faculty members using the standard Servqual questionnaire for education and research quality and a standard questionnaire for student service. The data were analyzed using SPSS software.
Results: The average gap scores in all dimensions of educational service quality were negative in both 2023 and 2024. Students expressed the highest dissatisfaction with in the dimension of reliability (-4.137 and -4.127) and the lowest dissatisfaction in the dimension of empathy (-2.940 and -2.538).The average gap scores in the research services dimension were also negative, with the highest dissatisfaction in the dimensions of reliability (-8742.4 and -7827.4) and assurance (-4.776 and -4.6504), and the lowest dissatisfaction in the empathy dimension (-2.5709 and -2.7843). The sanctification with student-cultural service quality was moderate and the average scores were 6.074±0.588 and 6.183±0.605 in 2023 and 2024 respectively, which showed a somewhat significant difference (P-value = 0.046).
Conclusion: Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences is facing challenges in providing qualified educational, student and research services. The university should seriously pay attention to the opinions of students and faculty members and help improve the satisfaction of the university community by implementing targeted improvement programs in these fields.
