Abstract

Radiology is one of the basic sciences in dentistry and has a fundamental role in diagnosis and treatment plan. Radiographic reports have several advantages for dental student for example they must carefully examine the teeth and surrounding tissues, and probably increase the ability of student to detects caries and periodontal disease .In this study a class of thirty-one dental student was divided into a group wrote report (n=16) and a group did not write report (n=15). Students were assessed with a questionnaire that consisted of 12 periapical and bitewing films were evaluated. The scores of diagnosis of caries and periodontal disease were calculated separately for each student. Measure of average and standard deviation of caries and periodontal disease knowledge were not significantly different between two groups .It seems to write the radiographic report did not has significant effect in improving the ability of student to diagnosis of caries and periodontal disease. However the radiographic report has advantages that result of this study does not lessen the value of benefits.
