Short-Course Education Program for Burn Infection Control

Abstract
Management of Nosocomial infections and wound infection is one of the essential skills for Infectious diseases specialist. Education of Short course to control Burn infection for Infectious diseases residents adjust to Educational curriculum was a way of achieving this skill. This cross-sectional study was conducted in winter 2011 in Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences that all residents of Infectious diseases took part in this study. 6 resident students trained for two days in infectious ward of Razi Hospital and five days in Taleghani Burn hospital. Course educational evaluation was done by polling Infectious diseases residents, multiple choice questions (MCQ) before and after period, and also OSCE examination two weeks after the course. Afterwards, MCQ exam was analyzed by using paired T-Test; and P value less than 0.05 were considered as significant. All the participants declared that the course was effective. The mean score of MCQ before and after course was compared by using paired T-Test in SPSS software (version 16). There was significant difference before and after test. (P value <0.001). Mean score for OSCE exam was 15.5 of 20 that showed acceptable skill. Consequently, this study showed that short-course education in the field of Burn infection control can be considered as main priority for Infectious diseases residents.
