Abstract
Introduction: The present study aimed to determine the effect of using a concept-based approach using a concept map in the process of interactive virtual education on the learning of master's students of the Faculty of Health in comparison to the control group.
Method: This study was conducted in a quasi-experimental design. 54 students of master's degrees in basic medical sciences participated in the intervention group and 55 people participated in the control group. The subject of education is design and teaching techniques in medical sciences. The attitude of students in the intervention group regarding education was measured using a concept map through a 13-question questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale that was developed in Chiou's study. The evaluation of students' learning in the three areas of objectives, teaching method, and evaluation method was done in the intervention group by drawing a conceptual map and in the control group by using comparison tables. Data were analyzed using a descriptive and analytical test (Mean, SD).
Findings: The mean score of the student's attitude toward the use of concept maps in the educational process was evaluated as 4.29±0.93. The mean learning scores of students in the intervention group were reported as 17.56 ± 2.28, which was significantly higher than the control group, 15.50 ± 4.88. (p-value=0.0001).
Conclusion: The results showed that the use of concept maps in the blended learning process provides a good opportunity for meaningful learning, which leads to proper learning of students.
